The operational detail matters. Africa’s payment ecosystems have historically leap-frogged legacy card rails, and so agentic commerce in these markets may emerge not by grafting on old infrastructure, but by evolving existing digital payment behaviours. Permissions, identity linkage, and device-level authentication will be key to this rollout.

Enterprise adoption is still early and uneven
